Green Maw Sit Sit & Tsavorite Sterling Silver Pendant

Myanmarese or Burmese Maw Sit Sit and green Tsavorite cuttle bone necklace
What a rich color Green – this one practically made itself!

The Maw Sit Sit stone comes originally from Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). This particular stone caught my eye for its unusal shape and color striations. Sometimes, irregularly shaped gemstones are difficult to design around, but this one practically made itself!

To accentuate the unusual shape of this stone, I set it in a Sterling Silver bezel setting and topped the pendant with a 3.5 mm faceted round green Tsavorite stone. The angles in the Sterling Silver cuttlebone casting pull out the color variance in the Maw Sit Sit stone. The bail will easily accommodate any 3 mm chain, however this pricing includes a 18″ snake chain. Price: $260 (includes 18” snake chain)

Sterling Silver Hummingbird and Plumeria Pendant

Sterling Silver Hawaiian plumaria flower and hummingbird necklace pendant

I’ve always loved watching hummingbirds flitt from flower to flower in our southern Californian garden, and the plumeria flower brings fond memories of vacation time in Hawaii. They have inspired me to make this whimsical Sterling Plumeria Pendant that can keep flying around your neck. I also have a pair of Sterling Hummingbird earrings that match this nicely. Pendant Price: $55 (chain sold seperately)

Make it a set…
The Sterling Silver hummingbird earrings are 30mm from top to bottom. They swing freely on posts to give the impression that they’re flying. I have made each so that they face opposite one another.  Earrings Price: $50.00
Customize it…
There’s always the option to customize an existing piece when you’re in contact with a custom jeweler. Maybe you’d like me to set a diamond in the middle of the plumaria or for the eye of the hummingbird? Or a birthstone? You can find my contact details in the menu here: Contact

Sterling Silver and 14kt Gold Pietersite Pendant

Tempest stone in Sterling silver pendant, Game of Thrones

This stone is also called the Tempest stone because of the swirling colors that resemble a storm. It’s a large oval measuring 31 mm x 22.5 mm. Set in a bezel with a Sterling top using the cuttlebone casting technique. To bring out the colors of the stone, I’ve soldered on three 14 kt gold balls as accents. Pietersite is said to help us keep centered on our spiritual being. Great to facilitate meditation, and to catch the eye! I’ve also soldered on a Gold accent on the bail that can accommodate a 3 mm chain. Price: $175.

Student Testimonial – Christine Panushka

As you may know, Kimberly teaches Jewelry Fabrication at the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre. One of her long time students has generously given a testimonial of Kimberly’s class:

I love making things. Creating jewelry is an extension of my art and experimental animation practice. My work explores stillness within movement, the significance of small gestures and non-verbal ideas related to the body, life cycles, emotional and spiritual states of being. My films have screened at numerous international film festivals and museums. In addition, I am a Full Professor in the John C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts, School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.

Titled “Midnight,” this piece is sterling silver, with a beautiful sodalite cabochon. I used two cuttlebone castings to make the figure and the bail. I think of the cat-like creature as an ancestor, riding high in the sky above us, watching.

Kimberly is an exceptional and patient teacher. I have been taking her classes for many years and will continue to do so as long as I can. I love our class, making and learning about silver fabrication.

Sterling Silver Indian Moss Agate and Citrine Pendant

Turn up the heat this summer with this striking pendant. Indian Moss agate is my favorite semi-precious gemstone, and what better way to accentuate it then with a cuttle bone casting silver accent? This piece has an tourmaline bead riveted to the top of a sterling decoration and a rich looking orange pear shaped faceted citrine hanging below. Price $245.

Commission – 14kt Yellow Gold Coin Wedding Ring Set

These commissioned pieces from April 2017, were for a new customer who came to me with a very touching story.
Samantha was about to buy a train pass with coins she was putting into a ticket machine. The change fumbled and one rolled out into the street. A gentlemen in the line behind her ran out and retrieved her coin. Later, while on the train, they developed a friendship because of the coin. In time their relationship blossomed, and they decided to have the coin made into a promise ring.
Later, the couple decided to get married and wanted to commission 14kt gold wedding rings. Their original promise ring was not made of precious metal, and it needed to be modified to balance the design.  I was able to make a cast of the impression of the gold coin from the promise ring and incorporate the impression into the new gold rings.
The first photo is the modified version of the gents ring with a brass rim added to its edge, just after it came out of the rubber mold. The second photo is the ladies ring, modified with the brass rim but polished. At that stage, the mold was made, and the wax models were cast in gold.
A beautiful unique set a memorable love story.
